Alphonse Mucha 2018 Wall Calendar Details
Alphonse Mucha (Czech, 1860 1939) believed that beautiful art improved the quality of life. While he created many advertising posters and calendars for cigarette papers, beer, chocolate, biscuits, and the like, he also pioneered a new genre of decorative panels (panneaux decoratifs), posters without words that were a precursor to today s art posters. From 1895 to 1900 he established himself as the master of the art nouveau poster through series focusing on nature all with harmonious colors and decorative elements, flowers, and lovely women in diaphanous gowns. Several of the images in this calendar are from those series, designed to elevate and inspire the viewer.
